BL Harbert Wins Five Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — BL Harbert International was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama at its awards ceremony held on Oct. 2. BL Harbert received Excellence in Construction Awards for five projects which were recently completed.

Mercedes Benz Logistics Center in Vance, Alabama received an Obelisk Award in "Industrial $25-$50 million". Representatives from Mercedes-Benz and BL Harbert accepted the award together. The Mercedes-Benz Logistics Center in Vance, Alabama is a 935,000-square-foot facility that supports the Mercedes C-Class expansion efforts, including production of the redesigned 2015 C-Class, their best-selling model series. Awarded with only a 10-month schedule, this design-build project was planned and delivered on time, utilizing a zero-float schedule. The Logistics Center handles approximately 2.9 million parts per day and employs 600 people; it streamlines Mercedes" logistics operations and supports the receiving, handling and sequencing of parts for the M-Class and GL-Class SUVs, R-Class crossover and C-Class sedan currently in production.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Birmingham, Alabama received an Obelisk Award in "Institutional $5-$10 million". The Saint Stephen's project includes a 19,000-square-foot Parish Hall Addition and a 3,500-square-foot renovation, including a kitchen, lobby connector, classrooms, elevator bank, parking lot and site improvements.

Other projects which received awards include the 19th Engineer Battalion Complex in Fort Knox, Kentucky; The University of Alabama's Ferguson Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the Homewood Community Center in Homewood, Alabama.
