Build Your Future Scholarship to Benefit Craft Training for Construction Students

ALACHUA, Fla. — NCCER and its Build Your Future initiative have recently partnered with Associated Builders and Contractors and its Trimmer Construction Education Foundation to offer the Build Your Future Scholarship to deserving craft training students seeking a career in construction.

“As an industry, we must educate the public about the vast career opportunities available in the construction industry and provide tangible opportunities for individuals to learn skills that will help them build a successful career,” said Don Whyte, president of NCCER. “Given the similarity of our missions and the desire of NCCER and BYF to support the work of the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation, we are pleased to offer this endowment.”

For nearly 20 years, NCCER and BYF have been proud supporters of ABC and the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation and have contributed more than $500,000 to their efforts. The Build Your Future Scholarship includes a $20,000 annual donation for five years. Each year, the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation will provide scholarships to individuals who want to pursue craft training opportunities in the construction industry through an NCCER-accredited training program or a state or federally approved apprenticeship program. The scholarship package comes from the Build Your Future Scholarship Fund and will be in addition to the contributions that NCCER and BYF already provide to ABC and the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation.

“We are honored to have the continued support from NCCER and BYF,” said Michael Bellaman, president and CEO of ABC. “The Build Your Future Scholarship supports our mission of attracting young men and women to our industry and training them to become skilled craft professionals. It is partnerships like these that solidify the future of the construction industry.”
