10-Story Washington, D.C. Office Building Contract Goes to Clark

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Square 452, LLC, a partnership of Gould Property Company and Oxford Properties Group, has awarded Clark a contract for the 600 Massachusetts Avenue project located between 6th and 7th Streets along Massachusetts Avenue Northwest in Washington, D.C.

Clark will construct the core and shell of the 400,000-rentable-square-foot office building complete with a concourse level and three below-grade levels of parking. Designed by CORE, the 10-story building will be clad in curtain wall glazing, composite metal panels, brick veneer and a stone façade. The building will feature Class-A office space, a two-story glass atrium in the lobby with stone flooring and a four-story atrium from the second floor ascending to the fifth floor. The primary roof will incorporate green spaces with planters and heavy vegetation, and offer views of the Capitol and the Washington Monument. In addition, the building features six significant terraces throughout.

Clark will also renovate a previously relocated historical townhouse, which is currently on site. Renovations will include the restoration of the existing masonry exterior walls, and the installation of wood windows and doors, roofing and base-building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

600 Massachusetts is designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification. This brownfield development will contain several sustainable elements, including two rainwater cisterns that will collect over 93,000 gallons of water for reuse. Clark also will utilize locally sourced materials during construction and will manage an intensive recycling program.

Clark is self-performing the excavation and support of excavation for the project.

Construction is underway and substantial completion is scheduled for summer of 2016.
