Gilbane Leading Modernization of ConcoursesB and C at Port Columbus International Airport

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Starting in December 2013, travelers arriving and departing from Concourse C at Port Columbus International Airport will enjoy a fully modernized experience following the completion of a major renovation effort led by Gilbane Building Company, which was selected by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority to serve as construction manager at risk for the project. Simultaneously, Gilbane is managing the modernization of Concourse B, a process that is scheduled for completion in April 2015.

“Thousands of travelers rely upon Port Columbus International Airport and its services. Drawing on our experience in airport concourse construction nationwide, we look forward to completing this vital modernization effort with no disruption to travelers, airport personnel, on-site vendors or airport security,” remarked Bob Sewell, regional support operations manager. “Our collaborative approach and Lean processes will help ensure the on-time completion of the project with no impact to the airport's operational continuity.”

The Concourse B and C projects are of three individual concourse renovation projects that will be starting within the year and consists of updating all interior finishes and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems inside the 50,000-square-foot Concourse C space and the 55,000-square-foot Concourse B space. Much of the work will be carried out during off hours to minimize the impact on the traveling public.

Gilbane's airport experience spans the country, including the award-winning InterLink at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, R.I.; the phase 1 improvements at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in California and work at O"Hare International Airport in Chicago, Ill., as well as John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, N.Y.
